In this fickle music business, it takes a lot more than just a pretty face and a melodic voice to stake your claim as a musical force to be reckoned with, but Apryl Evans has mastered the many complex layers that encompass that which makes up a pop culture phenomenon. Her heartfelt pop/soul sound combined with her sexy retro-inspired image set her apart from the droves of musicians looking to strike a chord in the industry. Many would describe Apryl’s signature sound as striking and soulful modern pop. Despite a few similarities to relevant artists, Apryl has a voice and sound that truly stand out as being exceptionally distinctive. In a recent issue of Junior's Cave Magazine, Apryl was touted as the new generation of Pop Music by editor-in-chief Isaac Davis, Jr. "Apryl will make the same [kind of] explosion as Kelly Clarkson and Mariah Carey into the music industry with her own special flavor that mixes elements of Pop, R&B, [and] Urban into one fantastic sound" raves Davis.
Apryl has received numerous accolades for her extraordinary talent and was recently recognized by The Moody Blues’ Mike Pinder as a Semi-Finalist in his semi-annual Songwars competition. When asked what made Ms. Evans stand out in a crowd of many other singer/songwriters, Pinder simply stated, “Inspired and heartfelt vocal performances.” Music industry veteran Dale Kawashima also recently paid tribute to Apryl’s vocal prowess by naming Apryl as one of the winners in his monthly talent search for the best vocalists in the world.
Not only is she impressing lifelong music industry professionals - Apryl is capturing the hearts of music lovers across the world. In December of 2009, she received a nomination for R&B Single of the Year for USA4Real’s Annual Music Awards, in which she seized the popular vote. USA4Real is just one of many radio stations where Apryl’s music can be found dominating the charts. She has even scored featured guest spots on Central Jersey’s Blue Colt Radio and Hear New Brunswick Radio Station.
Ms. Evans has also managed to grasp the attention of many on the fan-funding site, SellaBand.com, where music lovers from all over the world became investors in Apryl's project. Apryl recently became the 10th US artist to complete a fundraising effort on Sellaband, raising over $17,000 towards a new 5-song EP. She will be recording the still untitled EP this year with Cari Cole, who has worked with everyone from Journey to Chrisette Michelle, as well as Top 5 American Idol finalists. Apryl and Cari are currently hard at work crafting rich, soulful, songs with a touch of mature sass and expect to release the EP in late 2011.
